The anti-surge algorithm used by CPC Engineering has been designed to solve in its standard configuration most of the common applications regarding compressor anti-surge and process controls, and can also be easily adapted to fit non-standard requirements.

The integrated controls enable to efficiently protect the compressor and to ensure maximum process availability as well as the highest achievable efficiency.

The supporting hardware controller, that can be adapted to fit all applications, is:.

  • A stand-alone micro-processor based system (ABB Protronic P700)
  • A compact PLC (SIEMENS S7-1200)

Its optional Modbus RTU RS-485 serial link enables communication with data acquisition software (RMP) that can be used for monitoring.

The system can be configured to allow both process and anti-surge control together or any of the two controls independently.

The bulk of the advanced control algorithm is however dedicated to the protection of the machine against surge and other abnormal operating conditions.

The overall algorithm consists of:

  • Anti-surge controller
  • Process controller
  • Decoupling between the two controllers
  • Surge detector/counter
  • Automatic start-up interlock
  • Alarm generator
  • Operator interface
