ENA Control has recently announced the discontinuation of its Protrenic and Digitrenic controller families, marking the end of a technological era in the field of industrial automation.
The history of these controller families dates back to the late 1980s, when Hartmann & Braun (H&B) developed the first Protronic PS / PS2 and Digitric D controllers, designed for single-loop control and demanding industrial processes. Later, ABB took over the manufacturing and development of these lines, giving rise to some of the most reliable controllers on the market: the Protronic P500/P700 and Digitric D100/D500.
In 2008, the production of these families was taken over by ENA Control, which continued their evolution under the names Protrenic and Digitrenic, maintaining the same design philosophy, precision, and reliability that had made them a benchmark for decades.
Over the years, the Protronic/Protrenic and Digitric/Digitrenic controllers have been part of thousands of installations in the Oil & Gas, chemical, and petrochemical sectors, ensuring stable and safe operation in highly critical environments.
At CPC Engineering, we have accompanied this evolution since its beginnings, accumulating extensive experience in the migration and modernization of these controller families, ensuring in each project 1:1 functional equivalence, operational continuity, and long-term maintainability.
Our proprietary product, the CPC Compact Solution represents the ideal, field-proven solution for replacing these controllers. This solution provides a complete migration based on standard industrial PLC and HMI platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider…), ensuring a plug & play replacement that combines reliability, flexibility, and full compatibility.
With the CPC Compact Solution, plants still operating with Protronic/Protrenic or Digitric/Digitrenic controllers can make the leap to a modern platform while maintaining their original control philosophy and significantly improving monitoring and maintenance capabilities.
CPC Engineering offers its knowledge and expertise to ensure a safe, efficient transition backed by years of proven field experience.
