The CPC Tuning Tool is a tool for tuning and optimizing PID loops that analyzes the process's real response to a step input and calculates the controller parameters using different tuning methods and optimization criteria.
From real test to PID: the Tuning Tool translates a step response into the loop's tuning parameters, using the optimization method that best fits each dynamic.
CPC Engineering's Tuning Tool is the PID controller tuning assistant integrated into our RMP platform. Fully connected to the Trends module, it retrieves the real test data stored in the database and calculates the tuning parameters from the loop's response to a step input.
Based on that response, it lets you apply different parameter optimization methods depending on the behavior of each loop, comparing results before applying them. It works on any platform —DCS, PLC, or hybrid systems— without interrupting operation.
The Tuning Tool doesn't work alone: it relies on RMP, CPC's real-time monitoring platform.
RMP runs on a virtual machine —hardware-independent, stable, and instantly restorable— and connects via OPC to the control systems to read each loop's variables live. The Tuning Tool relies on this foundation for tuning.
Learn about RMPWalk through the tool's actual workflow. Each step draws on the curve what the Tuning Tool identifies.
